Wm. T. Burnett Acquires Flex Foam, Expands Operations in Phoenix »BedTimes Magazine

Wm. T. Burnett & Co., headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, has completed the acquisition of Flex Foam, Arizona’s leading polyurethane foam manufacturer.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The addition of Flex Foam to Wm. T. Burnett marks a significant milestone in the company’s 137-year history,” said Richard BC Tucker, Jr., Burnett Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Like Burnett, Flex Foam was a family business with which we share common values, including a commitment to providing the highest levels of quality and customer service. We look forward to building on our heritage of innovation in the polyurethane industry with a broader reach in the western United States.

Flex Foam was founded in Phoenix in 1978 by Russ Cortright and his sons Mike and Steve Cortright. The company specializes in the production of polyurethane foam for bedding, furniture, packaging, underlay, medical components, sports equipment and acoustic performance products.

David Cortright, Managing Director of Flex Foam, will remain with the company and continue to oversee day-to-day operations.

“Joining the Burnett family is an exciting new chapter for everyone here at Flex Foam,” said Cortright. “Our customers will benefit from access to Burnett’s extensive portfolio of polyether and polyester engineered foams and nonwoven products. »

Wm. T. Burnett is no stranger to Phoenix, as the company now operates one of its nonwovens manufacturing facilities in the city. Burnett’s urethane foam division is headquartered in Jessup, Maryland, while the nonwovens division is based in Statesville, North Carolina.

Greg Davis, president of Wm. T. Burnett, said he believes the acquisition of Flex Foam will provide new avenues of growth for the company.

“We look forward to growing Flex Foam’s existing business and expanding our ability to produce specialty urethane foams in Phoenix that meet exacting technical specifications for use in a wide range of industries,” Davis said. “Flex Foam brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that strongly complements that of Burnett.”
