Recycle BC resumes foam collection in the Okanagan

Depots now accept polystyrene foam

Limits have been lifted on all recycling options with the return of foam collection.

The Recycle BC program resumed acceptance of polystyrene packaging in all depots, effective December 27. Glass collection also resumed on December 20.

“We would like to thank the residents for having kept this material during the suspension of the collection. We have experienced exceptional circumstances in the province with unprecedented flooding and shutdowns of our major transportation corridors, ”said Travis Kendel, director of engineering for the Central Okanagan Regional District. “It’s great that Recycle BC has been able to resume collection now, as residents can have additional materials while on vacation. As usual in our depots.

The selective collection of recyclable products at the curb is also continuing and recyclers are reminded that glass and foam packaging must not be added to the trolleys. These are only deposit items.
