Nerf Puts Foam Phasers To Celebrate Star Trek: TNG’s 35th Anniversary

Hasbro Pulse is releasing a limited-edition Nerf rifle based on Star Trek: The Next Generation phasers to commemorate the show’s 35th anniversary.


Nerf LMTD has announced its celebration of Star Trek: The Next Generation35th anniversary of Starfleet with the upcoming arrival of Starfleet Type 2 and Type 3 foam phasers.


As revealed in pre-order solicitations on Hasbro Pulse, the Fire Foam will manifest as a set titled “Star Trek Starfleet Type 3 and Type 2 Phaser Blasters.” Each limited-edition set includes a pair of true-to-nerf replicas that recreate the portable Type 2 and Type 3 rifle phaser used on the Star Trek: TNG series and feature films. The Type 2 article has a single-shot load capacity with a retractable handle and the Type 3 rifle fires from a motorized clip capable of holding five darts. Additionally, the Type 3 features a light-up Borg assimilation effect accompanied by authentic sound effects from the 1996 film. Star Trek: First Contactthe second feature to use characters from the spin-off series launched in 1987. Items are only available as a set and include seven Nerf Elite foam darts.

Since its inception in 2020, the Nerf LMTD sub-brand has released cross-promotional replicas based on Fortnite, Bungie’s Gjallarhorn blaster FateBoba Fett’s EE-3 Carbine Rifle from star wars and Boba Fett’s Bookand the classic Needler from Halo video game franchise. Like all previous Nerf LMTD releases, the Star Trek Starfleet Type 3 and Type 2 Phaser Blaster Bundle utilizes unique immersive display packaging. The Nerf LMTD from Hasbro Pulse is dedicated to offering collectibles that faithfully recreate popular geek-centric guns from film, television, and video game franchises.

Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered in September 1987 and ran for seven seasons, producing a total of 178 episodes before its eventual end in 1994. The show remained hugely popular upon its release from syndicated television and was immediately made into feature films, starting with the Star Trek Generations. Generationsleading to sequelae in Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Star Trek: Insurgency (1998), and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). The series’ massive success also led directly to several spin-off television series, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and picard, which all share a continuity. In addition, Star Trek: TNG spawned a large series of novels published by Simon & Schuster and more than a dozen video games. Beloved by fans and critics, the series won 19 Emmy Awards, two Hugo Awards, five Saturn Awards and a Peabody Award during its run.

The Nerf LMTD “Star Trek Starfleet Type 3 and Type 2 Phaser Blasters” set sells for $119.99 and can be pre-ordered directly from Hasbro Pulse through October 2, with an estimated ship date of November 24.
