Microsoft spokesperson confirms new Xbox Streaming device is coming for game streamers.

Previously, there were online rumors that the Redmond giant was gearing up to launch a device that will pave the way for seamless Xbox streaming.

This means you can now stream your gameplay throughout the session, but fans believe it will come at a huge price. Granted, a high-end dongle has to go with a fast internet connection, and to spice up your streaming, you need to have access to Xbox Game Pass.

According to Windows Central, the streaming device operates under the codename “Keystone.” Surprisingly, it turns out it’s not a hoax, as the company’s spokesperson confirmed it was already in development.

“Our vision for Xbox Cloud Gaming is unwavering, our goal is to empower people to play the games they want, on the devices they want, where they want. As announced last year, we have been working on a game-streaming device, codenamed Keystone, that could be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console,” the Microsoft representative said.

It should be noted that the Xbox streaming dongle rumors had been around for two years. Still, it proves that Microsoft listens to fans when it comes to game streaming.

The company spokesperson went on to say that the company has already brought its current version of the Keystone dongle. Microsoft wants to focus on this technology to introduce new improvements for Xbox Cloud Gaming.

According to PCMag, it’s possible that it won’t just be a dongle that will connect the Xbox to the TV. It has the potential to run essential streaming software.

At the time of writing, there is no scheduled release date for this material. However, this will be a huge challenge for the company since other tech giants like Amazon and Nvidia have already released their own versions of game streaming devices.

Can it compete with the Apple TV dongle?

It’s still uncertain if Microsoft will stick with the original Xbox streaming dongle design for now. Interestingly, it could be compared to the Apple TV dongle released a few years ago.

According to Macrumors, the Cupertino giant should release a new TV version in order to be able to launch a new dongle for this smart home appliance.

The rumored launch of Apple TV could take place around the second quarter of 2022, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, a top Apple tipster. Either way, this could put the Xbox streaming dongle in a tight competition when it launches in the future.

It can potentially compete with what the Cupertino company has to offer, but it definitely needs to bolster its Apple Arcade gaming platform if it wants to stay afloat in the market.
