Fans React to Manchester City’s 3rd Crestless ‘Cheap Replica’ Kit

Manchester City’s third kit made their season debut tonight as the Premier League champions made the long journey to Brighton’s Amex Stadium.

The “ridgeless” Puma band certainly hasn’t been well received by most fans on social media, with many scoffing at its cheap look and basic design.

The kit is all black, with a Puma logo centered on the shirt, “Man City” written below in blue, and the club sponsor still underneath.

If you look closely, you will also be able to see the pattern of the city badges blending into the black background. This is crucial for the adoption of Premier League rules, because even if it is not clearly visible, all kits must have some badge on the shirt.

The design is one that has been repackaged for several other clubs with Puma kits, including Borussia Dortmund and PSV. However, unlikely for City, the BVB jersey still features the club badge slightly off-center.

While some appreciated the simplistic layout, the general consensus was one of disapproval on Twitter.

The kit might not have been some fans’ cup of tea, but it at least brought success to the team. The traveling team took a 3-0 lead in the first half, with Phil Foden scoring an exceptional brace.

Given the lack of popularity, it’s unlikely that we will review too many kits like this in the near future.
