A new adidas foam trainer is on the way

Hate them or love them, foam sneakers are here to stay, with adidas ready to expand their offering with an all-new silhouette.

When did the moss season really start? Was it when the Crocs crept into the mainstream and became the quintessential fashion shoe via Kanye and Balenciaga? Or maybe when we went to the Gorpcore and adopted the Merrell Hydro Mocs?

However you choose to chronicle the timeline, foam sneakers asserted their dominance in the industry in an instant – and there’s more to come.

Industry leaders in the field, adidas, are apparently working on a new foam silhouette that largely maintains the frame of the successful Yeezy Foam Runner.

While the leaked images of this upcoming silhouette don’t reveal much in terms of technical details, its streamlined construction doesn’t look too much like sneakers from the ZX Flux family.

The heel and midfoot have been sculpted to give a stacked appearance that triggers long locked memories of high school geography classes. Hello again, sedimentary rocks.

As has become the norm for foam sneakers, this still unnamed pair has parts cut out on the upper that some Twitter users have likened to the Pokémon Cubone.

What sets them apart from previous entries in the growing adidas foam family is the addition of a traditional outsole, giving them more performance capabilities than other clogs.

For all the hearty fans, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
